Troops rescue 1, 406, kill 68 insurgents, lose 24

Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, North East, Major General Lucky E. O. Irabor, said the Nigerian Military has in its recent operations  under operation rescue finale  at the Sambisa forest, rescued 1,406 male, female and children from Boko Haram terrorists at various enclaves within Sambisa forest.
He also said during the operations, own troops were attacked,  but the troops repelled and later mob  up the Boko Haram terrorists and in the events, four officers and over 20 soldiers were killed even as over 30 officers and soldiers were wounded and are presently  responding to treatment in hospitals.

The Theater Commander, who stated yesterday at a press conference, said also that over 18 Boko Haram suspects had been arrested and are under interrogations.
He added that the theater command planned to burn down all the arms and ammunitions including other personal items recovered by the military during its operations, while cash recovered will be returned to the treasury.
Irabor further said that those “Boko Haram terrorists that surrendered earlier are under the custody of the military and in good health as they are being treated fine and rehabilitated according to international standard”.
He also called on those who are yet to surrender to do so as the military is determined to finish them very soon having cleared almost all the sambisa forest by now with the operation rescue finale.
