Troops neutralise 3 terrorists in Monguno

Troops of 242 Battalion deployed in operation LAFIA  DOLE in conjunction with troops of Operation LAST HOLD neutralized three Boko Haram terrorists during a raid patrol at Mallam Kafari, Goni, Alkari, Burburna , Kantanna villages in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno state.

Army spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu disclosed this in a statement.

He said several items including: two  AK 47 rifles, 51 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, four  Magazines, and one 36 Hand grenade were recovered during the operation.

“However, one soldier was wounded during the operation and is currently receiving medical attention,” he said.

He urged the public to always report activities of suspicious persons to the nearest military formation or any security agent for prompt action.

Meanwhile, as part of activities marking the 2018 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), personnel of 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna, weekend embarked on sanitation exercise in the metropolis.

The exercise, which was supervised by the General Commanding Officer (GOC), 1 Division, Maj-Gen, Mohammed Mohammed, began at 9:30a.m and lasted till noon, at Barnawa area in Kaduna South Local Council.

Mohammed said the celebration would also feature medical outreach for residents.He said: “We feel we need to identify with the society as part of our celebration. The sanitation exercise was to clear the heaps of refuse at Barnawa area and keep the environment clean. Also, we came here to assist to clear the debris. This will also prevent an outbreak of disease and epidemic.”
