Troops foil terrorists attack on Borno village, kill 3

Troops of 112 Task Force Battalion deployed at Mafa in Borno state have foiled an attack by Boko haram/ISWAP terrorists attack on Mafa community,  Mafa local government area of Borno state.

The terrorists attempted to infiltrate the community on Monday, but were repelled by the troops. Two terrorists were killed and several sustain gunshot wound during the exchange of fire with the troops, army spokesperson. Col. Sagir Musa said in a statement released on Wednesday.

He said the troops also recovered two gun trucks, two anti-aircraft guns and a motocycle from the terrorists.

Troops fighting Boko haram and ISWAP terrorists in the North east have continue to record success against the adversaries. They have neutralized thousands of the terrorists, recovered arms and ammunitions, rescued women and children captures by the terrorists, and provide adequate patrols to ensure free vehicular movements on the roads.

“The terrorists failed attack on Mafa was as a result of available intelligence indicating the desperate longing for food and other logistics by terrorists necessitated by the recent, incredibly tireless and ferocious troops’ operational exploits,” the army spokesperson said.

He said the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brig. Gen. Abdulmalik Biu had since visited the conflict location with reinforcement.

“While being conducted round the camp to assess the situation, the GOC urged the troops to remain focus and not to be carried away by the successes,” Musa said.  “He directed them to redouble their efforts and doggedly maintain the momentum until they win the war on terrorism for Nigeria through total victory against the terrorists.”
