Troops discover terrorists’ night market, intercept suicide bomb squad

Troops of 112 Task Force Battalion and Mobile Strike Teams of 22 Brigade of Operation Lafiya Dole  and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) weekend discovered Boko Haram terrorists makeshift night market in Boboshe village, in Borno state.

According to army spokesperson, Brig. Gen Sani Usman the troops also discovered newly harvested farm produce on display for sale in the market.

Usman said the troops made the discovery after “credible information from well-meaning Nigerians,” He said the troops thereafter carried out clearance operations in Gawa, Bone, Kajeri 1, Kajeri 2, Kube, Dubula, Boboshe 1 and Boboshe 2 villages, Borno State.

He said: “During the operation, the gallant troops discovered that the terrorists had make shift night market in Boboshe with newly harvested farm produce on display for sale.

“After conducting a thorough search of the vicinity, they recovered 3 Isuzu vehicles, 4 Dane guns, 1 Dummy gun, suspected to be used for training of inducted Boko Haram terroists and mattresses hidden under shrubs, amongst several other items ahead of Bone village.

“They also rescued 5 persons taken captives by the criminal Boko Haram terrorists gang at Boboshe 1 and Dubula.”

Usman said the troops are more determined and resolute to ensure that the remnants of terrorists are located and neutralised.  He appealed to the public o continue to volunteer credible information to security agencies in the ongoing clearance operations in the North East.

Meanwhile, troops of 242 Battalion intercepted Boko Haram suicide bomb squad at Ngalle village, in Northern Borno state.

According to army spokesperson, the bomb could have been intended for troops or innocent and peace loving villagers.

“Following an attempt by the terrorists to escape on sighting troops, a terrorist was shot dead, while a huge Improvised Explosive Device (IED) cylinder was recovered,” he said. “Other items recovered include an AK-47 rifle magazine, a motorcycle and some spare parts.”

Usman also said troops also intercepted escaping terrorists crossing Maiduguri-Monguno highway at Torowa village. He said one of the terrorist was shot dead, while others fled into the nearby bush.

“The gallant troops recovered an AK-47 riffle with a magazine loaded with 19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 3 mobile phones, a SIM card and jewelries,” he said.
