The Imo State House of Assembly Tribunal sitting in Nasarawa State Monday, sacked a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Kennedy Ibeh representing Obowo State Constituency in the State Assembly who ran the last election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Our correspondent gathered that the court went ahead to order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue the candidate of the Labour Party(LP), Princess Nkechi Anyanwu Mbachu with the certificate of return, having won the March 18, 2023 Obowo State Assembly election.
The Tribunal in it’s judgement ruled that Ibeh’s certificate of return be retrieved immediately and issued to his opponent in the Labour Party.
Ibeh had represented Obowo on two consecutive occasions. But with this development, the third term which he is currently enjoying, appears to have been scuttled. However, there is a strong indication that he would be appealing the Tribunal judgement at the Appeal Court.
