Tor Tiv urges leaders to build bridges for sustainable co-existence

The paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, Professor James Iorzua Ayatse, has called on Nigerians to prioritise building of bridges for sustainable mutual coexistence of the nation’s diverse cultural affiliations.

The Tiv monarch who is the national president and chairman Board of Trustees of Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria also regretted that the country’s challenges linger due to inability of critical stakeholders to build bridges that would integrate the people, sharing the benefits available to all Nigerians.

A statement issued Sunday by the media assistant to the paramount ruler, Freddy Adamgbe, quoted him as making the comment in Enugu, when he chaired the 2nd edition of “Handshake Across Nigeria”, organised by Nzuko Umunna.

He stated that the initiative of the organisation was worthy of emulation by other nationalities in promoting the mutual coexistence of not Indigbo but all citizens of Nigeria.

He also pledged not to waver in his bid to make Nigeria a united and indivisible country and appreciated the tireless contribution of Indigbo to the economic development of Tiv land and Nigeria at large.

He commended the governor of Enugu state, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for ensuring a harmonious relationship devoid of border skirmishes between his kingdom and Enugu state, which earned him the highest chieftaincy title in Tiv ( the Temimongo i Tiv) and urged other neighbouring governors to emulate him.
