Tinubu committed to lasting peace on waterways – Defence minister

The minister of defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has reiterated that the establishment and training of Maritime Security unit Forces of the Deep Blue Project is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to protect and safeguard the integrity of the Nation’s waterways

The minister disclosed this while delivering keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the Maritime Security Unit of the Deep Blue Project held in 5 Battalion Nigerian Army Elele, Rivers state.

The minister urged the Maritime officers to fully prepare to be able to cope with the challenges of illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalization, piracy illegal fishing and water tress passing among others

The Minister said he was every optimistic that the graduands who have gone through the professional combat training will confidently deal with these challenges to bring peace and economic prosperity of our great Nation. 

While congratulating the officers, the Defence Minister expressed his warm regards and gratitude to  Minister of Maritime and Blue Economy, NIMASA and the facilitators for their  unwavering commitment.
