Tinubu, Akpabio to grace DICON 60th anniversary celebrations

Over3,000 local and international defence industry stakeholders will converge on Abuja for the commemoration of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) 60th anniversary.

A statement Friday by Director of Information and Public relations Ministry of Defence Henshaw Ogubike disclosed that the Minister of State for Defence Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, will address the press on Monday.

According to the Minister, DICON’s 60th Anniversary celebration will showcase its achievements and innovations as well strengthen relationships amongst stakeholders. The theme of the anniversary celebration is: “Future Frontiers in Africa’s Defence Technology”.

According to the minister, the event will gather the largest defence industry stakeholders in Nigeria and Africa and over 3,000 both local and international participants.

He said the event will focus on investment opportunities, industrial partnerships and future developments in the African defence industry.

“It will also feature a distinguished faculty of knowledgeable speakers and resource persons from within and outside Africa,” it said.

“The Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR will be the Special Guest of Honour for the 60th anniversary celebrations and opening ceremony of the maiden African Defence Industries Conference on Wednesday, 14th August 2024, while the President of the Senate is expected to be the Guest of Honour for the Cocktail/ Gala Night, same day, “ the statement reads in part.
