Tight security as Supreme Court delivers judgment on Kano, Sokoto, others 

There was tight Security in Abuja as Supreme Court on Monday delivered judgment on Sokoto, Kano and other state governorship elections.

It was observed that police personnel and vehicles were seen positioned at strategic places and roads leading to the apex court.

The police and army security vehicles were also seen patrolling roads area adjourning the Federal Secretariat to avoid breakdown of laws and order.

Meanwhile, a support group, Ningi Youth Support Group, was also seen close to the barricaded point, opposite the Head of Service building at the Federal Secretariat, expressing support for the Bauchi State Governor, Mr Bala Mohammed.

As at the time, Mohammed’s case was still on-going at the Supreme Court.

Members of the group, who carried placards with different inscriptions in support of Mohammed, were seen singing solidarity songs and dancing.

Head of the group, Mr Nura Mammuda, in an interview with with correspondents said they came from Ningi local government of Bauchi to support their governor over his election matter in the court.

“We are here to celebrate the outcome of the court judgment as part of our love for him,” Mammuda said.

A member of the group, Mr Adamu Sule, said they came into Abuja Jan. 19 to express their support for the governor.

“Bala is our man and we are praying that today’s (Monday’s) judgment should be in his favour.

“We are sure that he will surely succeed,” Sule predicted.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had adjourned the Bauchi and Plateau governorship elections cases until 3p.m.

As various groups were celebrating for or against the candidates, the apex court ruled in favour of Sokoto Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of PDP and Kano Gov. Abdullahi Tambuwal of APC.(NAN)
