Och’Idoma calls for army barracks at Agatu

    Benue has no land for grazing – Ortom

The paramount ruler of the Idoma people in Benue state, HRH Elias Okoyi Obekpa, the Och’Idoma 1V, has called on the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, importance establish an army barracks at Agatu.

This is even as Governor Samuel Ortom has declared that there was no land in Benue state to be ceded for grazing purposes, insisting that “when the land is not even enough for cultivation of our crops, where do we get same to give out for grazing?”
Both Ortom and the Och’Idoma were speaking at Agatu yesterday when the former was on the on the spot assessment of the devastation and killings of about 27 communities in Agatu local government area.
The paramount ruler, who was represented by Odejo K’Apa, John Antenya, decried a situation where his subjects would be attacked, slaughtered like animals and sacked to become refugees in their own land after, adding that this are same people that did not only fight to keep the country one but are daily contributing in feeding the country.

He said: “Yes we appreciate the soldiers that were sent here. But I must say they are not enough. They have flushed out those insurgents in some communities yet, there are some communities including Ocholanya, Akpeko, Na him, Olegomaku, Olegonyilo and Olegoteku are still under serious siege.:
Ortom, who was visibly worried by the level of wanton destruction after visiting Aila, Akwu-Agatu and Okokolo, promised to convey the exact message to President Muhammadu Buhari.
