The electorate and 2015

It appears that many members of the House of Representatives do not understand what democracy is all about. Going by their actions and unacceptable dispositions, they need to be reminded that democracy is about government of the people, for the people and by the people. It is a game of numbers as adequately displayed in the recent governorship election in Ekiti State.
If the rules of democracy are respected, it then follows that a competent legislator would be an asset to the people of his constituency. Such legislator contributes objectively to issues debated on the floor of the House. Legislation is about fairness and constructive contributions on issues of national and sectional importance.

Furthermore, a good lawmaker will always maintain a symbiotic relationship with his people. He will interact with them as partners in progress. It is expected that the fruit of such interactions would lead to proper representation.
The people of Biu/Shani/Kwayya Kusar and Bayo federal constituency are still counting their losses and nursing their disappointment. They are disappointed at their representative at the National Assembly. What’s more? It has been said that Rep Muktari Aliyu Betara has neglected those who elected him into the House of Representatives, even for a second term.
This is an opportunity for leaders who are principled, focused, visionary, and passionate about the plight of their people, to step forward and take our people to the Promised Land. M. M. Adamu Burati is a good example.
