‘The Bridal Shower’ strengthened my production career – Actress


Scintillating Nollywood film producer, actress and philanthropist, Peace Egwu born in Afikpo North L.G.A of Ebonyi State has explained why her movie “The Bridal Shower” is competing favourably in the Nigeria movie industry.

The movie which is also Directed by Aniedi Awah Noba tells the story of Eight ladies who organize a getaway to celebrate the bridal shower of one of them soon to marry. The night starts well until they begin to die mysteriously one after the other. It was shown in cinemas October 19 2018.

The movie had some of the biggest A listers in Nollywood like Toyin Abraham, Helen Paul, Nazo Ekezie, Ene Ochu, Peace Egwu, Myrrh Ejiofor, Lami Ese-George, Melvin Oduah, Frank John and Moyo Lawal.

What she said about the movie:

“The success of the movie and the theme sparked wide range of conversations amongst young females in Nigeria and gave rise to the accolades and recognition I enjoy till this day.
“Telling the story to a global audience was a fulfilling point in my career and I’m happy I was able to influence my audience with the message of the story, “she explained.

The impact of its distribution and subsequent success significantly influenced the Nigerian film industry and audience viewing experience, challenging traditional narratives and raising production standards.

The movie had a good cinema rating and was made available on streaming platforms across French speaking Africa, further expanding its reach and accessibility.

She graduated from the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Translation Studies. Her passion to impact positively in her society and the quest to combat critical health issues and assist in developing good and functional policies, propelled her journey to the United Kingdom in pursuit of a Masters of Science Degree in Public Health from Glasgow Caledonian University, London Campus. A feat she recently completed in May, 2024.
