Terrorists kill 5, abduct 2 others in Sokoto community

Gunmen on Saturday invaded Tudun Doki village in Gwadabawa local government area of Sokoto state, killed 5 persons and abducted two others, a resident of the town, Malam Ibrahim Tudun Doki, has disclosed.

Malam Ibrahim, who is a human rights activist, said the bandits came in large number at about 11.30 pm on Saturday and started shooting sporadically.

He said bullets hit the victims who instantly died on the spot, adding that all the victims were male adults and had since been buried at the Tudun Doki cemetery

Ibrahim said the funeral prayer was attended by the District Head of Gwadabawa, Alhaji Mohammed Zayyana and other tops  Gwadabawa local government officials.

He said besides the two that were abducted, five others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Gwadavawa General Hospital for medical attention.

Ibrahim narrated that as at the time of the attack, some people ran to a military check point not up to 5 kilometres away from the village to seek swift response but to their dismay, the soldiers at the check point refused to respond to their complaint.

He said the people of Tudun Doki village and nearby villages are currently living in panic because they don’t know what’s going to happen at night.

He said the locals had resorted to self-defence, mobilised to guard the village because it has became clear that neither the security personnel nor the government had any plan to secure the villages.
