“We commend President Bola Tinubu’s swift condemnation of the attacks and the resolve of his administration to bring the perpetrators to book, and the re-assurance to continue to secure the lives and properties of citizens.

In its own reaction,  the Northern Senators ‘ Forum in a statement signed by its chairman, Abdulaziz Yar’ Adua said it shares in the profound sorrow and anguish that has befallen the community of Gwoza following the devastating events of June 29, 2024.

The forum lamented that the horrific acts of violence, as relayed by Dr. Barkindo M. Saidu, DG Borno SEMA, have shattered the hearts of senators from the North and tested their resilience.

The Northern senators however in the statement, declared that the scourge of Boko Haram and all forms of terrorism will find no haven in the  North and Nigeria generally.

The statement reads: “The Northern Senators Forum adamantly declares that the scourge of Boko Haram and all forms of terrorism will find no haven in our land.

“Together, we will confront these forces of darkness with determination and unity, safeguarding our communities and upholding the sanctity of peace and security for all.

“We stand united in condemning the cowardly deeds of those who seek to spread fear and chaos among our peaceful communities.

“We salute the unwavering courage and dedication of the medical teams, rescue workers, and the Nigerian Army who have responded with valor and selflessness in the face of adversity. Your commitment to preserving lives in the midst of turmoil exemplifies the true spirit of service and sacrifice.

“We pledge to work tirelessly to reinforce security measures, ensure swift responses to threats, and prevent the recurrence of such atrocities.”
