Taraba crisis: 19 children missing

A total of 19 children are said to be missing in six communities cutting across three local government areas that were affected by the sectarian crises in Taraba south and central senatorial districts.

Also, eight were said to be missing children in two communities of Kuka and Kawo in Bali local government area.
Refugees in Mutum Biyu Gassol local government area first broke the news of the missing children to Blueprint at the Central Primary Cchool camp when he visited them.
In Bali, the traditional ruler of the Tiv people, Ter Bali, Chief David Gbaa, confirmed that some children were missing.
He said all the attacks on his subjects were carried out in the night and that families ran for their dear lives, adding that in most cases it was very difficult to coordinate children, leading to the disappearance of eight of them.

He added that their whereabouts was a very big problem as their families were not sure whether or not they were alive.
The traditional ruler said they could be wandering about in the bush, stressing that more persons were still being attacked and that more people were running away.
However, when contacted, the police in the state denied knowledge of any missing children.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, said no such case had been reported to the police.
