Taraba Assembly passed anti grazing bill

Taraba state House of Assembly yesterday passed the Taraba State Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Bill 2017 into law. Th e Assembly at it plenary, took the third reading of the Bill before passing it into law. When the house reconvened today from the yesterday’s adjournment, Majority Leade,Hon. Joseph Albasu, moved that the Bill should undergo third reading, and was seconded by Hon. Josiah Aji, representing Wukari 11 state constituency.

Th e Clerk of the House Mr. Ismaila Ukwen, was directed by the Speaker, Hon. Peter Abel Diah to read the titles of the Bill on the fl oor of the house before proceeding to read the other sections of the bill for third reading. Th e House unanimously accepted that all the 25 sections of the Bill should formed part of the law, completing the passage process of the third reading before the Speaker put it into voice vote, where the House, again voted for it to become a law of Taraba state. Th e house, however, pleaded with the state executive government to delay the signing of the law to enable proper logistics arrangements on the side of both government and cattle owners. It could be recalled that the State House of Assembly ad-hoc committee that conducted public hearing on the Bill submitted the report and also pleaded that the Bill should be delayed for the same purpose.
