Tambuwal seeks revenue-sharing formula review

Sokoto state governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called for the review of the country’s revenue-sharing formula as provided for in the Constitution.

The governor made the call Thursday in Sokoto when the National Association of Nigerian students (NANS) paid him a courtesy visit.

The student body had announced that it had been nominated the governor for its public service meritorious award as the best performing governor in the country

in the education category for 2015 – 2019.

The nomination letter was presented to the governor by the national president of the Association, Comrade Danielson Bamidele Akpan, when he paid courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Sokoto.

According to the president, the award presentation ceremony is scheduled to hold on November 17 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

He commended the governor for the state government’s giant strides in education and human capital developments, especially the construction of the ultra-modern library and 60 offices in the state-owned university.

Akpan also thanked the governor for including youth in governance and appealed to him to appoint more.

Receiving Akpan and his team, Tambuwal urged the nation’s youth to brace up for the challenges of leadership by believing in themselves, and challenged them to go through due electoral process to take their rightful positions.

He called on the nation’s leaders to continue to see Nigerians as one family for the progress and development of the country, stressing the need for the devolution of power rather than restructuring.
