Support girl-child education, ES urges parents, guardians

Gwagwalada area council, Education Secretary, Hajiya Safiya Tukura, has tasked parents and guardians in the area to support the girl- child education.

The ES stated this in a chat with Blueprint Monday after an emergency meeting she held with heads of primary school teachers while appreciating the chairman of the council, Hon. Mustapha  Adamu Danzer for giving education sector priority attention.
“The council’s chairman has been making efforts to take basic education to greater height in the area of provision of instructional materials and paying attention to teachers welfare,” she added.

Tukura noted that she would soon stage advocacy campaign in Gwagwalada and environs to motivate parents to know the significance of girl – child education.
She reiterated the commitment of the local education authority under her watch to introduce measures to increase pupils enrolment.

The ES called on parents to be monitoring the movement of their wards just as she maintained that she would not fold arms to see children hawking and roaming the streets during school hours.

She also reiterated the commitment to ensuring academic activities
 are effective in primary schools even as she implored teachers to reciprocate government gesture at all times.
