Strategise to raise your status, Ondo first lady tells women

Ondo state First Lady, Mrs Betty Akeredolu, has advised the Nigerian women to develop a strategy that would ensure the elevation and development of their status in society.

Mrs Akeredolu gave the advice in Owerri shortly after being honoured by the Imo state Independent Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA), led by Hon Hery Ekpe.

She said the Nigerian women should come up with a strategy with which to develop themselves and stand on their own rather than waiting for government to give them 35 per cent, adding that one of the strategies is by acquiring education.

The advocate on breast cancer prevention and girl child promoter, further said that the women can come together and have a framework on how to move themselves forward and take their destinies into their hands, instead of sitting down in the comfort of their homes, being satisfied that they are married to rich husbands or be happy because they ride flashy cars.

Commenting on the women development efforts of Mrs Akeredolu, the immediate past Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Dr Mrs Cele Njoku, currently on her sabbatical at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), described her as a motivator, mentor and role model to girl child development, adding that she had a breakthrough in an area many people had neglected, which is breast cancer.
