Trading activities at the nation’s stock market yesterday opened in a down ward trend, shedding N63 billion. Specifically, the market capitalisation of listed equities fell by 0.61 per cent to N10.251 trillion from N10.314 trillion recorded on Friday.
Also the Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index went down by 182.94 basis points to 29828.95 points from 30011.89 points traded on Friday. Investors exchanged 366.919 million shares valued at N5.244 billion in 2,976 deals against 151.179 million shares worth N1.706 billion made on friday in 2604 deals.
An analysis of the transactions showed that Seplat Petroluem Development led gainers table growing by N0.50 kobo to close at N235.00, Lafarge Wapco followed with a gain of N0.50 kobo to close at N98.00, Flour Mill Nigeria Plc gained N0.30 kobo to close at N21.30 kobo, Zenith International Bank gained N0.20 kobo to close at N17.90 kobo and Berger Paint N0.16 kobo to close at N10.50 kobo.
On the contrary, Okomu Oil topped losers chart, dropping by N2.56 kobo to close at N28.00, Nigerian Breweries Plc N2.01 kobo to close at N125.01 kobo, Glaxosmith fell by N1.98 kobo to close at N38.01 kobo, Stanbic IBT declined by N1.15 kobo to close at N21.85 kobo and Oando shed N0.96 kobo to close at N9.00. Further analysis indicated that Zenith International Bank led trading activities, exchanging 177.670 million shares worth N3.181 billion in 250 deals, FBNHoldings followed with account of 41.756 million shares valued at N237.787 million traded in 419 deals. Diamond Bank sold 27.540 million shares cost N78.764 million in 30 deals, Transcorp traded 16.536 million shares worth N33.326 million in 173 deals and Continental Reinsurance Plc exchanged 14.311 million shares worth N14.1680 million in 28 deals.
