Stock market appreciates as Nestle leads gainers table

Nestle Nigeria Plc led the gainers table yesterday, appreciating N20.67 kobo to close at N860. Forte Oil Plc followed with a gain of N8.78 kobo to close at N184.55 kobo while Nigerian Breweries, Total Nigeria Plc and Cadbury Nigeria Plc appreciated by N7.11 kobo, N7.00 and N1.74 kobo respectively to close at N149.42 kobo, N159.00 and N36.56 kobo.
On the contrary, Dangote Cement topped losers chart, shedding N9.45 kobo to close at N179.11 kobo, Mobil Oil trailed by N8.06 kobo to close at N153.92 kobo while UACN fell by N2.18 kobo to close at N42.50 kobo.
Other companies that depreciated in price were Cap Plc and Okomu Oil which dropped by N1.78 kobo and N1.56 kobo respectively  to close at N36.60 kobo and N29.79 kobo. The market capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by N3 billion to N11.004 trillion from N11.001 recorded previously while the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share Index rose by 8.53 basis points to 33224.84 points from 33216.31points traded on Friday.
Financial service sector led activities for the day, trading 392.128 million shares worth N3.151 billion in 2658 deals. Insurance Brokers carrier was most active in the sector accounting for 187.460 million shares valued at N481.882 million in 193 deals. Mansard Insurance was the investors delight in the sub sector with account of 154.007 million shares cost N462.021 million in 21 deals.
Banking sub sector enhanced by GTBank came second in the sector with account of 107.979 million shares worth N1.820 billion in 1367 deals. Other financial Institution sub sector boosted by FBN Holdings took third position in the sector with a total of 96.216 million shares valued at N844.818 million in 1,071 deals.
Transnational Corporation of Nigeria sold 33.238 million shares worth N103.242 million.    In all investors traded 490.894 million shares worth N6.992 billion in 5470 deals.
