Steward in trouble over employer’s death

A 21-year-old steward, David Idah, has been brought before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, for allegedly killing his employer, a 65-year -old magistrate, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Timeyin.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Banji Sangotokun, told the court that Idah killed Mrs Timeyin using a machete.
Sagotokun explained that Idah, who was said to have been sacked by the deceased over theft of her jewellery, returned on March 28, at about 3pm and killed his former employer after scaling the fence of the building.

He was, however, apprehended by residents and later handed over to the police; the offence is contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2008.
Chief Magistrate Anthony Araba ordered that Idah be remanded in prison custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
