South-east Senate caucus mourns ex-Diamond Bank Chair Pascal Dozie

The South East Senate Caucus on Wednesday expressed shock and sorrow over the death former Chairman of Diamond Bank, Dr Pascal Dozie.

The caucus in a statement in Abuja by its chairman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, said his death had robbed Nigeria of a banking guru and an acknowledged economist of high repute.

Dr Dozie, he said, was indeed an icon and a foresighted economist who also chaired one of the world’s communication giants, MTN, “which means that he was one of the steady hands in the economic circle that sat at the commanding heights of not only Nigeria’s macro-economic evolution but that of the entire Africa.

“Dr Pascal Dozie was indeed a pathfinder whose death would surely leave a huge vacuum in the banking industry and our country’s development.

“He was a great son of Igboland, an illustrous Nigerian and a beacon of transparent financial management in our dear county’, Senator Abaribe said.

The South East Senate Caucus, therefore, condoled with his family, the banking industry, the government and people of Imo State  and indeed the entire Nigeria on this huge loss.
