The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has raided shops in Damaturu the state capital as well as Potiskum town where it confiscated sub-standard products such as sugar, spaghetti and vegetable oil, among others.
The state coordinator of SON, Dr. Zainab Umar, said the raid was part of the routine operations aimed at eliminating sub-standard products in the state.
Umar said, “We always carry out routine operations to see that SON improves lives through standardisation. All these products confiscated do not have registration with SON and the products may be harmful to human body,” she said.
She said efforts were on, to increase the tempo of routine supervision, survey and registration of products in order to safeguard the lives of the people and add value to their activities.
She therefore called on individuals and organisations to report any suspicious products for appropriate sanction.
