Solskjaer takes over as Besiktas coach

Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has officially been appointed as the new Besiktas head coach.

The Norwegian has been out of work since being sacked by Man Utd back in November 2021, but he has been unveiled as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s permanent replacement at Besiktas.

The Dutchman was fired in November and Serdar Topraktepe has acted as the club’s interim boss for the past two months.

However, Solskjaer has now been appointed as the club’s permanent head coach and he has signed an 18-month contract with the Turkish giants.

Following confirmation of his appointment, Solskjaer told TRT Spor: “It’s great to be here, it’s very nice to see so many people care about this fantastic club

“For me, I’ve had a very nice first meeting with the members of the board here and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s fantastic to be in this beautiful city as well.”
