Solar installation: Philanthropist sponsors youth training, empowerment in Kaduna

A philanthropist in Kaura local government area of Kaduna state, Mr Godwin Luka, has sponsored the training of 696 youth on solar installation, CCTV camera and First Time Attendance (FTM) to gainfully engage them.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the trainees at the Kaura local government multipurpose hall recently, the sponsor said the decision to embark on the training was to economically empower the youth.

Mr. Luka stated that the initiative was a deliberate effort to shift the attention of the youth from the search for non existing white-collar jobs to skill acquisition to actualise their dreams of becoming productive and responsible citizens.

He said out of the 696 trained, 500 were certified while 30 were presented with starter packs for a start.  He called on other well-to-do people and public spirited organisations to consider partnering with him by providing more starter packs to the trainees.

He urged the trainees to make the most of the training received and also to train others to improve on their socio economic status.

The guest speaker at the event tagged:“Maisola Youth Training and Development Program,” Comrade Mathew Barnabas Kambai, observed that academic certificates no longer place food on the table and encouraged the youth to acquire skills to earn a living.
