Sokoto state government has donated N10 million and four trucks of rice and maize to families affected by banditry attack in Isa local government area of the state.
This was contained in a press statement issued and made available by the Director Press Affairs to the Sokoto state, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa
Speaking while distributing the relief materials, Governor Ahmed Aliyu said the gesture was aimed at putting smiles on faces of families of the victims killed and kidnapped in the series of attacks by bandits in the area.
The governor also announced a donation of N10 million cash from senator Aliyu Magatakardan Wamakko as well as the four trucks of rice and maize totalling 2,400 bags donated by the state government.
His said, “We are indeed worried by the activities of bandits in our dear state.
“As a government, we are doing everything humanly possible to end banditry through various means, such as giving our security agencies all the needed support to secure the state,”he added.
Commending the efforts of the security agencies in securing the state, the governor tasked them to put in more efforts in that direction.
“In order to further compliment the effort of our security personnel, we established the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps with the sole aim of protecting our rural dwellers,”he added.
Ahmed Aliyu also appealed to the people of the state especially in the areas worst affected by banditry to always assist the security agencies with relevant information on any suspicious movement.
Also speaking, the APC leader in the state, Senator Wamakko, commended the governor and government of the state for executing various people-oriented projects across the state.
“Mr Governor, your one year in office has been very fruitful, as we have seen transformation across the state, please keep the good work,” Wamakko added.
He called on the people of the state to continue to support the present administration in its effort to develop the state.
Earlier speaking the sole administrator of Isa local government Alhaji Isa Mohammed Dan Dela, commended the governor for the relief materials, which he said would go a long way in making the lives of the displaced better.
