Sokoto government earmarks N8.1bn to construct Kajiji/Gumi road

The Sokoto state governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, has assured the people of the state of more developmental projects in the coming year.

The gpovernor who gave the assurance while declaring open the 11th regular meeting of the State Executive Council held at Government House, Sokoto.

He said that his administration had during the year under review executed several projects across the length and breath of the state.

“In sha Allah, more projects are expected in the coming year,” the governor stated

Briefing newsman shortly after the council meeting, commissioner of Land and Housing, Barr. Nasiru Aliyu Dantsoho said the council has approved contract for a federal government road which link Sokoto to Gummi of Zamfara state

According to him, the road was awarded to ZBCC construction company at the cost of over N 8 billion and 30% down payment has been made upon bank guaranteed

Though he did not mention number of kilometers but he said the road will start from Kajiji town to where Sokoto share border with Zamfara state

In his presentation, the commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Mohammed Tukur Alkali has said that the council has awarded contract for the renovations of some dilapidated structures at Nagarta college in Sokoto and government Secondary Science Sechool Yabo at the cost of over N 2..7 billion

According to the commissioner, renovations at the Nagarta college Sokoto will gulp N 1.38 billion while Government Science Secondary School Yabo will the state government will cost the state government N 1.43 billion

Tukur Alkali said the council has also approved the total renovations of some dilapidated structures at Sultan Abubakar College, Sokoto

He said that the institution has a long time history and produced great people from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kwara and Niger states who served the country in various capacities

He said that the council has also approved the 2 submissions presented before it from the State Universal Education Board to rehabilitate 2 primary schools under its supervision

He said that the primary schools are Marafa Danbaba model primary school and Tudun Wada model primary school

Also speaking, the commissioner of Science and Technical Education, Alhaji Bala Kokani has said that the council has approved the rehabilitation of some structures at the Army Command Secondary School , Sokoto and Army Secondary School in Shagari town at the cost of 1.2 billion

He said that the command secondary school at Giginya Barracks will consume N 425, 624,000 while army school at Shagari town will cost N 793.. 6 million

Earlier , the commissioner of Information and culture, Alhaji Mohammed Sambo Bello Danchadi said that the council has took a number of far reaching decisions that affected lives and bring succour to the people of Sokoto state
