Sokoto: Fire razes Kara market for second time in one month 

Hundreds of shops have been razed down by fire disaster at Sokoto Kara timber market

Properties estimated worth billions of naira were said to have been lost in the inferno. Sources said no life was lost.

The fire which sources said started by 2am took men of the fire brigade several hours to put off.

Victims were seen trouping to the scene and packing what remains of their property.

However, sympathizers were also seen trouping in to condole with the victims. 

Meanwhile, Sokoto state governor, Dr Ahmad Aliyu, sympathised with victims of  the fire disaster, describing the outbreak as tragic not only to the affected individuals but to the state in general.

The governor who is away on a state assignment posted his condolence via his Facebook handled and said,  “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate fire incident that occurred earlier today at the Sokoto Timber Market (Kasuwar Yan Katako).

He said the tragic event has caused significant losses to hardworking traders and business owners whose livelihoods depend on the vital hub of commerce in our state.”

The governor said on behalf of the government and the good people of Sokoto state, he extends his  heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the disaster.
