At least 80 Kebbi youths have been empowered to boost their small scales entrepreneurship under the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) programme. Speaking to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi while presenting support to the beneficiaries at the agency’s premises yesterday, the Director, Policy, Advocacy and Coordination at the national headquarters of SMEDAN, Mr Monday Ewans, explained that the gesture was for them to feel the impact of government.

According to him, the breakdown showed that 40 youths across Gwandu Emirate and another 40 from Argungu Emirate are to benefit from the first phase of the programme in the sum of N40, 000 while other programmes, especially in the area of agriculture, are underway.

Ewans further explained that the agency was in collaboration with the state government to ensure complete success of the programme, adding that only Kebbi and Anambra states had so far been selected for the programme while others would follow suit. He called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money given to them while thanking Kebbi state government for the cooperation the agency received during and after the exercise, and assured of the readiness to always partner for the success of all its programmes.
