…Smash car-snatching syndicate in Jigawa

In a bid to rid Jigawa state of criminals, the state police command has smashed a car snatching syndicate operating along Gumel, Maigatari, Garki and Suletankarkar axis. Th e police also nabbed two suspected members of the syndicate. Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, CP Rasheed Olatunde Akintunde, made this known while parading the suspects before journalists, yesterday, at the command headquarters in Dutse.

He said: “On July 20, 2017, around 0408hrs a distress call was received by a police patrol team in Gumel Local Government Area that two vehicles belonging to one Muhammed Baru and one to Isah Sa’idu Jajeri, all of Gumel town, have been stolen by unknown persons. “Luckily the police patrol team in Garki Local Government Area intercepted two young men in one of the stolen vehicles. When police questioned them the suspects identifi ed themselves as Mohammed Abdulkadir, 27, of Yakasai Quarters in Kano state and Usman Ahmed, 28, of Gumel town.”

He further disclosed that, “Th e police recovered three vehicles and master keys being used by the suspects.” Th e Police boss said during patrol within Dutse metropolis, the police accosted two suspected armed robbers Idris Hassan and Sadiq Sani of Gwale Local Government Area in Kano state. CP Akintunde further stated that a suspected armed robber, Usmar Hardo Muhammed, was also arrested at Makarantar Fulani settlement in Garki Local Government Area.
