Siasia okays Amiesimaka pitch

Head coach of Nigeria’s U-23 team, Samson Siasia says he is satisfied with the quality of the playing surface at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

The stadium is set to play host to Sunday’s 2016 Olympic football qualifier between Nigeria and Congo and Siasia was left impressed after his team trained at the facility for the first time on Monday.
“This is the first time I am seeing the pitch because we had been training at the Shell club (also in Port Harcourt) since we arrived from Abuja.

“I am very impressed with how well the (stadium) has been maintained and especially the pitch which is very very good,” Siasia said yesterday

Nigeria’s U23s will face their Congolese counterparts at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on July 19.
The winner of the tie will qualify for the 2015 CAF U-23 championship in Senegal.
It will take place between November 28 and December 12, 2015 and will comprise a total of eight countries.
The tournament acts as qualification to the 2016 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament for the CAF, with the top three teams qualifying.
