Show tenacity in fighting fire, FG tasks FFS

The federal government has asked the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) Engr. Joseph Garba Anebi, to show more commitment and tenacity in fighting cases of fire outbreaks across the country.

The task is coming at a time the agency acquired about 28 fire fighting trucks and water tankers which is said to be the first of its kind since the creation of the Federal Fire Service in 1901.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, at the commissioning ceremony of the newly acquired equipments, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, lamented that unlike now, the agency has not been given the kind of attention it deserve by the successive administration.

While assuring that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, will continued to purchase more modern equipment for effective fire fighting, the Minister recalled that when he came in two years ago, few fire fighting trucks were in operation.

Dambazau said: “I want to charge the Controller General and his men to show more commitment and tenacity to fire fighting because to whom much is given much is expected.”

Speaking earlier, FFS Controller General told the gathering that the acquisition of the fire fighting trucks and water tanks were indeed a morale booster for his organisation.

He revealed that his leadership has been able to refurbish over twenty (20) fire fighting trucks and water tankers that have broken down and were out of use, even as Over 400 junior officers who had been stagnated for more than ten (10) years have been promoted.

He assured that the vehicles will be distributed across the zones for effective delivery of service.
