Shippers Council to revamp export trade in Niger

The Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) has disclosed that measures towards revamping export trade in Niger state were already at an advanced stage.

Its zonal director, North-central, Mrs. Ify Okolue, made the disclosure Friday while inaugurating the new leadership of the Niger state chapter of the Shippers’ association in Minna.

According to her, contacts have already made with relevant the government organs to revamp export trade in the state.

“The Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) will ensure effective and efficient transport/maritime system in Niger state as well as support service ability to compete in the global economy. One of the aims and objectives of the shippers association is to promotion the interest of members on matters affecting shipment cargo to and from Nigeria,” she said.

The zonal director advised the new leadership to build on the legacy of the past executives.

She appealed to stakeholders to support the leadership of the association with ideas and suggestions that would improve the attainment of international trade and contribute to socio-economic development of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the new leadership, the association’s president, Alhaji Jemilu Mohammed, said the association would tap more into the abandoned raw materials abundant in the state.

He promised to coordinate and educate members to become active exporters as well as guide them on the opportunities that lie within the state to promote and move their businesses.
