Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has approved and released funds for the construction of 10 units of two bedroom houses for members of staff of the University of Maiduguri.
The Rector of Ramat Polytechnic, Engr. Babagana Umara, disclosed this when he was handing over the approval letter and other instruments for immediate commencement of the construction of the houses to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Ibrahim Njodi in his office yesterday on behalf of the governor.
The governor said he was mindful of the acute accommodation problems the institution was facing vis as vis the role of the university in raising the manpower development base of not only the state but country at large.
He also said the construction work of the houses would commence once the university identified a site for the project.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, expressed gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promises to the institution.
Njodi directed the Director of Works, Physical Planning and Development of the university, Engr. Yahaya Habu, to identify the site for immediate commencement of work.
