Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima, Saturday, launched the Nasarawa state Human Capital Development (HCD) Strategy document in Lafia.
The Vice President also launched the state’s Gender Transformative Human Capital Development Policy Framework which seeks equity for both the male and female genders in the state.
The document is aimed at improving the welfare and means of livelihoods of residents across the 13 local government areas of the state as well as promoting and increasing the socio-economic position of Nasarawa state.
Shettima who is also the national chairman of the Human Capital Development Agenda, explained that government was not only committed to ensuring that youths acquire employable skills, but it aims to empower them to export those skills globally, in order for them to be able to compete at the highest levels of the international markets.
“No government can or should function in isolation. The progress we have made in the HCD programme has only been possible because of our shared commitment to collaboration and partnership,” he said.
He congratulated Nasarawa state and all the stakeholders for their dedication to making the vision a reality.
“Nasarawa state’s commitment to the success of our HCD programme is not merely aspirational, it is a promise backed by action,” the Vice President added.
“I am particularly proud of Nasarawa state for exceeding the International benchmark of allocating its 15 percent of budget to education. This is a tremendous step taken for translating strategy to a tangible outcome,” he said.
He added that the state host tremendous potentials to transform itself into a shiny city, hence the need for peacful cooexistence among the citizens.
“All the potentials in Nasarawa state can never translate into reality if there is no peace. There can never be development without peace.
He therefore, urged the citizens to give Gonernor Abdullahi Sule all the necessary support in order to take the state to a greater height.
“Your have the potentials to transform your state into a shining city. Your governor is a good man while you rally round to support him so that he can get the Nasarawa that you eminently deserve.
“In conclusion i have a simple massage to the people of Nasarawa state what bind us together supersede what divide us.The peace you are enjoy here must be sustain.
While speaking, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state said the document will not doubt guide his administration in propelling the state into a new era of development, inclusivity and economic prosperity.
He said the document represents not only the state’s vision for the future, but its commitment to delivering measurable and sustainable results, adding that the idea of the document was concieved because the government believes in creating systems that works for the people.
Sule further revealed that the Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Strategy Document “Accelerating Growth and Development 2024-2030,” “is an actionable roadmap that will further guide our interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.”
“Similarly, the Nasarawa state’s Gender Transformative Human Capital Development Framework is equally critical in the state’s progress. This is because gender equity is a cornerstone of sustainable development,” Governor Sule added.
“We are committed to diversify our economy, optimising our national resources and forstering enabling environment for businesses to thrive.”
Speaking earlier, Director General/ Focal Person, Nasarawa state Human Capital Development Agency, Habiba Balarabe-Suleiman, explained that the strategy document is one that creates a platform for collaboration and partnerships within MDA’s and partners within and outside the state.
She mentioned the six thematic areas of the state’s HCD agency to include; health and nutrition; education, labour force participation, Youth, social development, local government and community development.
She called on stakeholders to key into the Human Capital Development Agency’s agenda in order to accelerate development in the state, as well as ensure that all citizens achieve their full potentials.
