Shettima, governors, others to discuss state of education in North October 10

The Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation Thursday announced that it would organise a national conference to find solutions to the multiple problems facing the education sector in the northern part of the country.

Chairman of the organising committee of the conference and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau, said this at a conference in Abuja.

Shekarau, a former governor of Kano state and minister of education, said the conference would be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, under the leadership of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He said governors, senators, ministers, traditional rulers, policymakers and critical stakeholders would attend the conference.

“The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, in its commitment to enhancing education, has sponsored a groundbreaking research project titled ‘Education in Northern Nigeria: Status, Challenges, and the Way Forward.

“The results of this research have illuminated a rather grim situation while providing valuable insights into how we can rejuvenate the educational landscape in the northern region.

“Education stands as the cornerstone upon which the future of society is constructed. It is imperative that innovative solutions are collectively sought to tackle the hurdles confronting the education system in northern Nigeria,” he said.
