Shelve your protest, FG tells NLC

The federal government Monday called on the membership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to shelve its planned nationwide protest.

Minister of information and National Orientation Mr Mohammed Idris made the call while fielding questions from State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The minister said there was no need for the protest because most of the demands by the NLC have already been met.

He said government was baffled by the action of the organised labour.

He said government has been implementing its obligations as contained in the 2023 agreement with the NLC and TUC.

“Government has done nothing to truncate the agreement. We appeal to labor to see reason,” he said.

The minister said the issue of CNG buses is not what can be satisfied immediately, stressing that “the CNG is not just what you get off the shelf.”
