The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai  Umar El Kanemi,  has said that  the Boko Haram insurgency had displaced 80 per cent of his emirate’s population.
He also expressed the hope that the federal government would go a long way in curtailing the insecurity situation.
The  monarch stated this when the Borno state Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Yahay Imam, paid him a courtesy call in his palace yesterday over the security challenges in the state.

He said 13 district heads among the 16 district heads of the Borno Emirate Council are currently taking refuge in Maiduguri because of the  Boko Haram insurgency.
He said: “As you can see here in our midst we have ten district heads who are supposed to be in their domain but cannot go back because of the Boko Haram insurgency.
“We have so many displaced persons here in the state capital Maiduguri that were forced out of their homes by Boko Haram insurgents.”

He, therefore, appealed to the federal government to intensify efforts towards ending the crisis to enable the people go back to their various homes to continue with their life.
It would be recalled that the royal father’s call followed that of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Idrissa Timta, a few weeks ago, calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to fulfil his promises to the people of Gwoza town over the recovery of Gwoza from the insurgents.
