Sharia court decline request to grant ex Zamfara commissioner bail

An upper Shari’acourt sitting in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital has fixed December 30 for hearing of alleged case of kidnapping and cattle rustling labeled against the immediate former Zamfara commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Bello DankandeGamji.

He was commissioner during the administration of former Governor AbdulazizYari.

In his address, the presiding judge, Justice Abdulhadi Sani Gusau said the former commissioner will not be granted bail, saying he will be remanded in prison till 30th December.

Justice Sani Gusau further stated that his court has jurisdiction to attend to the case, contrary to the counsel of the former commissioner who argued that the court doesn’t have jurisdiction to entertain the case.

It would be recalled that, Dankande was taken to court last month over allegation that he kidnapped two persons, rustled 50 cattle and 52 sheep.

The presiding judge, Abdulhadi Sank Gusau, further ordered that the Zamfara All Progressives Congress (APC) publicity secretary,  IbrahimMaigandiDanmaliki  be remanded in prison custody till December 30 for continued hearing in the case of alleged defamation of character and public incitement.
