Senior Special Assistant to the President and National Coordinator of Service Compact (SERVICOM), Mr. Sylbriks Obriki, has reiterated the determination of the SERVICOM Office to inculcate Service Delivery Principles and Ethics amongst the youth through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
A press release by the Public Awareness Manager, SERVICOM, Patience Musa, quoted Obriki as saying that “service delivery is crucial to productivity, hence the is need for a catch-them-young approach by way of inculcating in the youth the SERVICOM principles.”
Obriki, who said this when he paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director- General, Major General Johnson Olawumi, in Abuja, emphasised the SERVICOM principles as professionalism, accountability, staff attitude, complaints handling and timely delivery of service.
Obriki said: “There is no significant time to reach them than during the one year compulsory national service, in order to expose them to good work ethics and ideals that will enable them to deliver effective and efficient service, when they join the workforce after their service year.”
He said the SERVICOM NYSC Vanguard which was created as an enlightenment platform for the service delivery initiative in NYSC orientation camps across the country would be explored to maximise its impact and reach.
Also speaking, the NYSC boss said the SERVICOM NYSC Vanguard was one of the remarkable initiatives he met on ground when he assumed leadership of the establishment, and assured that all would be done to revamp and sustain it.
He also applauded the service delivery initiative and assured that NYSC would continue to collaborate with SERVICOM Office to improve service delivery in the establishment in particular and the nation at large.
