Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, representing Ondo south senatorial district in the National Assembly, has sought the cooperation of Ode-Aye community and the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over the sales and installation of prepaid meters.
In a statement by his media aide, Mr Olumide Akinrinlola, on Sunday in Okitipupa, Tofowomo said his intervention had laid to rest the contention between the communities and BEDC over estimated billings.

Tofowomo, some stakeholders in the affected communities and management of BEDC had, early this year, held a meeting to resolve the estimated billing contention.
“As BEDC has begun sale and installations of prepaid meters to Ode-Aye community, I want to seek its cooperation so that they can begin to enjoy power.
“This is in line with the resolution we reached at the meeting I held on January 15 between the communities and BEDC to lay to rest the estimated billing contention.
“I commend the BEDC for ensuring that the issues were resolved amicably, with an assurance to move to Okitipupa and Igbokoda towns respectively after being through with Ode-Aye.

“It is part of our electoral promises to ensure communities that have been in blackout for the past 10 years are reconnected to the national grid. We will make sure we do the needful,” he said.
The lawmaker also said he would follow-up with the timely completion and installation of Erinje Step Down which will be relied upon to reconnect all other communities in Ondo south.

He also said he would be visiting the project site at Erinje community in company of the chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to ensure early completion of the project. (NAN)
