Senator Bomai clarifies ICT project controversy in Yobe south

The Senator representing Yobe South Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, has clarified allegations of irregularities regarding the execution of projects in Yobe South, as reported by an online medium.

This was contained Friday in a statement issued by his legislative aide Abubakar Madu Bukar.

According to the statement, Senator Bomai’s office has provided evidence of a handover note showing that the contractor, Giohen Global Concept Nigeria Ltd., had duly supplied and delivered a 300 KVA/11KV transformer to CAMTECH Potiskum, a project facilitated by the senator.

However, the press release explained that the College later realized that the transformer’s capacity was not compatible with the power supply to its ICT center, as a result, CAMTECH entered into an agreement with the Yobe State Rural Electrification Board (REB) to exchange the transformer with a compatible one.”

“Senator Bomai’s office emphasized that the decision and action on the exchange of the transformer were solely between CAMTECH and the Yobe State REB, and he was not involved.

“On the borehole-related issues regarding the report by the paper on incomplete work, installation of under-capacity generators (6.5KV instead of 12.5KV), and misplacement of project locations, are the responsibility of the contractor and that has nothing to do with the Senator.

“The general public should therefore note that the water related projects were not facilitated by Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai and are not part of his constituency project portfolio.

“It is therefore spurious to link the irregularities on those water projects to Senator Ibrahim Bomai as those projects were awarded by the Federal Ministry of Works and have nothing to do with constituency projects of the Senator and he bears no responsibility to these irregularities,” the statement reads.
