A group, National Youth Reform Group, alleged that the Senate has forged the resignation letter purported submitted by the Secretary to the Government of the federation (SGF) Engr. Babachir David Lawal, to Rholavision Engineering Ltd.
The group said there were variations in the original letter and the one with the Senate.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, the chairman, Charles Olufemi Folayan, said investigation by his group had shown that Babachir resigned from the company August 18, 2015, before his appointment, while the letter from the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, is reading 2016.
Folayan said: “It has been revealed that the allegation against the SGF has some elements of misinformation, lies and forgery that the Senate leadership has once been accused of and the allegation is the handiwork of some agents of corrupt people, who have been prevented by the SGF from having their ways in government.
“Sadly, the Senate President, who has refused to resign his position on the basis of his trial at CCT despite the various call by stakeholders, is now calling for the resignation of the SGF for allegedly issue out contract to a company the claimed he has interest,” he queried
He urged the senate to publish for finding of it investigations and the letters in its possession if it is sure that it is sincere about the allegations.
“The Senate should focus on it over sight and law making functions rather than this vindictive fight against the SGF. There are other more serious issues that concern the IDPs that the senate can focus on rather than turning itself to an anti-graft agency overnight.
“We can no longer fold our arms and watch the people who are supposed to work for us now working against us and for their selfish interest. The emergency of the current leadership of the senate led by Dr Saraki has always been a threat to this administration especially on the anti-graft crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari, considering the antecedents and character of the Senate President who is currently on trial for fraudulent declaration of asset and widely criticized by the people of his state for alleged diversion of public funds and property to his private pocket,” he said.
