Sen Wamakko commissions electricity projects in 20 communities

 

Chairman, Northern Senators Forum, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has commissioned the repaired electricity supply line to 20 communities in Gumbi district of Wamakko local government in Sokoto state.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani, and made available to newsmen in Sokoto on Friday,
stated that the supply line, which was faulty for nearly two years, was repaired by the Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, a former governor of the state

The statement said that Wamakko was represented at the event by the Chairman of Wamakko local government, Alhaji Bello Buba Kaurar Kimba.

The benefiting communities include Gumbi, Barkeji, Baga, Kaurar Malam Garba, Yar Abba, Gidan Bobiri, Kammata, Fanfare, Sabon Garin Arkilla and Gidan Ali, among others.

Senator Wamakko further said that the gesture was in continuation of his undying desire to further improve the living standards of the people in the state.

The lawmaker also described electricity as “extremely vital and indispensable to the socio-economic live of the people”.

Wamakko appealed to the communities to jealously guard the installations from the nefarious activities of vandals and thieves.

Also speaking, the District Head of Wajakke, Alhaji Muhammadu Mailato Gumbi, hailed Senator Wamakko for the invaluable gesture.

The traditional ruler recalled the harrowing experience thousands of residents of the benefiting communities had gone through during the period the supply line was faulty.

The Business Manager, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Sokoto Area Office, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, stated that the supply line was diverted from the 2.5 MVA hitherto allocated to 7.5MVA of Wamakko town supply line.

The contractor, Mr. James Momoh, explained that the repair work was successfully conducted and energised within the specified time and specifications.

The Coordinator of the Wajakke and Gumbi ward, Alhaji Malami Sarkin Rafi expressed optimism that, myriad of socioeconomic activities will subsequently spring up sequel to the commendable gesture of Senator Wamakko.
