This is our last discussion on temperaments. Following this discussion, I strongly believe you will be inspired to maximise your potentials and also deliberately minimise the impact of your weaknesses as it relates to your success in life.
If you have taken time to read through all the previous write ups, I am positive that there will be a definite improvement in the quality of your life as you go through my conclusion.
Let’s examine the last two temperaments; the Melancholic and the Phlegmatic. These two, are the introverts of the four temperaments.
The Melancholic has great strengths like attention to details, perfection and creativity, while the phlegmatic is meek, submissive and dependable.
The weaknesses of the Melancholic are the fact that he can be too critical of others, emotionally sensitive, which means he can be easily offended. They can also keep malice and don’t forgive easily. If they do forgive, they don’t forget. This offence will be re-visited at every opportunity.
The weaknesses of the Phlegmatic are laziness, indecision, trying to please everybody and always choosing the easy way out, while procrastinating. The Phlegmatic is also passive about life in general.
I personally believe that these two temperaments are vital to the function and progress of any organisation. This is down to the fact that the Melancholic is your typical think tank in the company. They serve as business development, creative and brand directors or product development managers. They have the ability to constantly innovate.
On the other hand, the Phlegmatic is the stable force of the company. Due to their submissive nature and dependability, they are able to run with the vision of the company and stick to daily routine. This is their area of strength.
The downside for the Melancholic is their inability to work well with others as they are very critical and display mood swings often. The Melancholic will succeed if he or she trains themselves to be cheerful, to easily forgive and also learn to overlook the faults of friends, colleagues and partners. They will be able to break barriers if they submit to a mentor or a friend who can easily call them to order anytime they’re about to fly off the handle.
The Phlegmatic is good at carrying out instructions, so he or she can definitely work well with a mentor. The Phlegmatic will do well if they begin to learn to take initiative and stop trying to please everyone. If you’re predominantly a Phlegmatic, I strongly suggest that you take a moment and ask yourself what you really like to do, say or be and then decide to be your authentic self, because therein lies the power to breakout and succeed.
In conclusion, no human being is perfect. No one is without fault. But the goal of any and every successful person or entity is to be the best they can possibly be, leaving no stone unturned, harnessing every potential within and giving life a hundred percent of their effort. This is why the understanding of temperaments is important as we strive to our success.
The best knowledge we would ever have is that of ourselves. This is because we are the essential commodity and the main ingredient in the recipe of our successes in life.
How well do you know yourself? How honest are you with yourself? Do you accept your faults and own up to them as you discover them, or do you prefer to live in denial?
Why do I act the way I do? Why do I struggle in some areas? What can I do to master myself? How can I draw a balance towards living a healthy and maximised life? All these questions are what we have tried to examine and address in the past few weeks.
It is said that a problem known is already half solved. So the more you know about yourself, the better you become at managing yourself, your success and your future. I pray your best dreams come true and I look forward to seeing you at the top.
Let’s make it a great week! Make it a great week! ….Be a Life Changer!!!
