‘SEEFOR has benefited South-South region’

Executive secretary, national project coordinating unit, State Employment and Expenditure for Result (SEEFOR), Mr. Ntufam Ugbo, has said that the establishment of the agency in the South-South region has drastically reduced militancy and its attendant problems.
Mr. Ugbo gave the indication during a monitoring visit to Rivers’ SEEFOR community driven development social-project implementation unit, (CDDS-PIU ministry of chieftaincy and community affairs) in Port Harcourt.

He explained that the project came as an aftermath of militancy to provide succour for the people and to redirect the energy of the youths from negative vices to positive venture, noting that it has recorded a huge success.

“There is need to urgently address social issues that can disrupt government and if we do not address issues affecting our youths, they will one day hold us to ransom” he said.
He described the Rivers SEEFOR as a flagship, and noted that it will be used as a model for other states and said the grass root and the disadvantaged rural communities are the primary target stressing on the need for transparency.

Also speaking, the national project coordinator, SEEFOR, Mr. Tunde Lawal commended CDDS-PIU for the level of preparedness and the facilities on ground and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver.

Mr. Lawal called for synergy between the state and national units to build a strong relationship that will enhance service delivery and underscored the importance of the monitoring and evaluation unit since they are the key to the success of the project.
