The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, has urged the people of South East Nigeria to lend their total support to President Bola Tinubu who he said meant well for the zone.
Kalu who hailed President Tinubu for his love for South East people, added that his administration had shown enough determination in tackling infrastructural decay as well as addressing poverty and unemployment in the country.
The deputy speaker disclosed this during a Town Hall meeting with indigenes of Bende and other critical stakeholders held at his Bende country home last Sunday evening
He launched the business and family support grant for 4,800 families, noting that it would help to give sense of belonging to his constituents.
The Reps Deputy Speaker also launched a N500 million grant for 8,400 businesses selected from each of the 400 political wards in Bende federal constituency.
The grants, according to the Deputy Speaker, was to support businesses and families in Bende as well as assist in the eradication of poverty, hunger and unemployment.
He said the disbursement of the funds would commence on December 30, 2024 as a token of his appreciation for electing him into the Green Chambers, promising to update them on his achievements as their servant leader.
He, however, expressed worry on the deplorable conditions of roads in his constituency, saying that many of the roads and other projects which were captured in 2024 national budget had been completely reconstructed or undergoing construction.
Kalu who said that he sponsored 105 bills in the 10th National Assembly, appealed to his constituents and the South East to give more support to the President Tinubu-led APC administration.
