Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada, has charged the people of the state to be security conscious at all times and assist security agents with useful information to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

He gave the charge at the weekend in Onyedega, the headquarters of Ibaji local government area, as part of his tour of the 21 councils to interact with people and also to assess the level of the state and the council projects in the rural areas.
He said the recent insurgents in some parts of the country was a clear indication that issue of security of lives and property should not be left in the hands of security agents alone and should not be handled with levity.

The governor cautioned the people against insecurity, stressing that “gone are the days when people vested too much responsibilities on the security agents in the areas of protecting and safe guarding the citizenry.”

On the crises between Ibaji and neigbouring parts of Anambra state over the discovery of oil, the governor said the case “is already before the federal government and the National Boundary Commission has been charged to delineate the boundary.”

Wada, who said the government was still awaiting the report of the Commission, charged the youth in Ibaji to be peaceful and not to take law into their hands, saying that he was optimistic that the report would favour Kogi state.

Earlier, the chairman of Ibaji local government, Hon. David Ogu, who commended the government for providing basic social amenities to the council in the area of electricity and potable water, appealed to the governor to provide them with asphalted road to link the communities.
