Security guard docked for stabbing man

A security guard, Obada Akhaigbe, 26, who allegedly stabbed a man with a broken bottle, has been docked before an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Akhaigbe, who resides at Shogunle, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Corporal Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 15 at No. 2, Ago-Owu St., Shogunle, Lagos.

Olatunde said that the accused unlawfully stabbed one Mr. Nurudeen Are, who raised alarm when he was burgling a shop.
According to him, “The accused damaged the padlocks of a shop and carried some of the goods on his motorcycle. He stole three cartoons of Indomie valued at N7,500, cartoons of wine worth N50,000 and N35,500 cash totalling N93,000 belonging to one Mr Chinonso Okorie.”

Olatunde said that the complainant, who was residing in that house, heard noise from one of the shops and went out to check what was happening and saw the accused carrying some of the goods on his motorcycle.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 171 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr. Akeem Fashola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till April 22, for mention.
